I extended my stay in Vancouver substantially, and therefore needed a dental cleaning and a check done away from home and my trusted dentist in Austria. My wife had organized an appointment at South Oak Dental, as she had been a long term client here with very good experiences.The cleaning was done very well and thoroughly by Fadilah. As a new patient she also did an in depth determination of the status of my teeth including the measurement of the pocket-depths and documentation, x-rays and questions on my own cleaning practices. She made some clear statements and advises which convinced me of their "preventive approach" also known from my dentist back home. Dr. Gurek did a very close check as well and explained me my teeth's status and options. I opted for a small filling done a few days later. I felt very comfortable in that treatment by Dr. Gurek. He explained what he was doing in each step. I have a long dental history with implants, bridges, crowns and even a sinus-lift. I must say, my experience at South Oak Dental was extremely good, and I can truly recommend this dental practice - from the professional perception, as well as from the very friendly and personal interaction. At last, even the view from the chair to the "Lions teeth" mountains in the north was a bit sensational, as well as the exchange of some personal travel experiences. That also refers to Indraj at the reception desk. Happy to come back, if necessary.

I just finished my procedure at South Oak Dental, and I felt like I had to write this while everything is still fresh. 😆I came in feeling really nervous, especially knowing I had to get a root canal. But from the moment I arrived, the team made me feel taken care of. Indraj and Megan had already gone above and beyond before I even stepped into the clinic, they made multiple calls to my insurance to make sure everything was pre-approved, so all I had to do was come in and focus on getting through the procedure.Dr. Gurek was truly exceptional. He was patient, gentle, and incredibly understanding throughout the entire process. What meant the most to me was that he didn’t just focus on the treatment itself, he genuinely cared. He even helped reduce my financial stress by offering a discount and repairing another tooth free of charge. He didn’t have to do that, but he chose to, and that kindness really stayed with me.Something else that really stood out was how he treated his assistant during the procedure. He made sure both of us were comfortable, reassured us, and created such a calm and respectful environment. It may seem like a small thing, but it says a lot about who he is as a healthcare provider.Experiencing that level of care honestly reminded me why I want to go into healthcare myself, because of people like him. 🥹To Dr. Gurek, Indraj, Megan, and the dental assistant whose name I didn’t catch, thank you for making something I was so anxious about turn into such a positive experience.I’m truly grateful. 10/10, highly recommend.
