My wife and I fished with Colby multiple days on two different occasions this season. As someone who has been in the fly fishing industry in Montana as a guide, outfitter and fly shop owner, I know what it takes to do the guiding job; and more importantly how to do it the right way. Our group of five friends from non-fly fishing states had Colby take us out to Flat Creek to teach us all the basics of fly fishing. We spent 2 hours in great weather with him. He provided all the materials we first-timers needed. We started our time by practicing casting on land without the fly attached until we had enough practice to try it on the water. He was a really good teacher-- patient, detailed and clear in his explanations of how things worked, very knowledgeable, and welcoming of questions. As we cast on the water, he came to each of us and helped us improve our technique. We had a good time with him even though we didn't catch any fish. Highly recommend! Less
