Before starting services with Dr. Patel, I had sought treatment with several specialists over a period of 10 months, who were unable to diagnose and treat my condition. Finally, in April 2022, I began treatment with Dr. Patel and was diagnosed with chronic Lyme Disease and comorbid Lyme infections. We have recently begun treatments with Dr. Patel for my husband's chronic Lyme disease. He has 3 co-infections (3 types of tick-borne illnesses resulting from 1 tick bite 2 1/2 years ago). If you research Lyme disease, you begin to understand that chronic Lyme is a very complex condition to treat. It is highly individualistic, as there can be a variety of tick-born illnesses sustained from one bite. Treatment may involve a combination of antibiotics and biologics to target the specific type of infection. Hence, the treatment protocol varies from patient to patient depending on their particular tick-born illnesses. Dr. Patel doesn't take insurance, but we felt that our best hope was with her because my husband's illness was so advanced, and there was no other medical doctor in the Rochester area that we could find was Lyme "literate" and willing to treat in a targeted way. Basically, all we could find was a "one size fits all" protocol, with no one acknowledging the existence of chronic Lyme. We have just begun our treatment program of a possible 6-month road ahead of us, receiving IV treatments twice-a-week. We must travel an hour to get there. We just finished our first two treatments this past week. Today I looked at my husband and I was astounded at how his pallor had changed and he looked the healthiest he had in a long time. He can feel a change in his energy level. I am very hopeful and optimistic when just a few short weeks ago things felt very dim and scary. Dr. Patel is a kind, caring, and highly intelligent doctor who has saved my life. I was slowly being eaten alive by Lyme.
