Western River Expeditions

This adventure lived up to and exceeded our expectations. Of course the Grand Canyon is beautiful and the Colorado River majestic. But as with any trip like this, what makes or breaks it are the guides. The team that lead our group was fantastic. From clear instructions and expectations, to making sure everyone was happy and engaged, to terrific meals again and again, to just helping us be present in the moment our team was special. We went on spectacular hikes, and they recognized the varying abilities of the group in terms of physical stamina and skill. They shared readings and stories that made each day special. And did I mention the food--well prepared meals that were filling, tasty, and healthy (OK, maybe the fresh baked desserts every night were a bit indulgent). I think travelers should remember that this is an outdoor experience and you will have to be ready for the challenges of that--it was hot some days, there was a rain event when we were setting up camp one night, and everything gets sand in it. And to get the most out of this trip you need to be relatively fit, you could pass on the hikes we took, but you would miss out on some wonderful sights. But this is about being in the REAL WORLD, you know, the one without cell phones or emails, phone calls or traffic. Coming prepared, being flexible, and opening your heart to all that this trip has to offer will be a recipe for a trip you will always remember. (And do yourself a favor, travel with a friend or someone you love, you will want to share this experience.)
