I have been on this "writing my memoir" journey for several years. I've struggled to do it on my own but seemed to always find myself stuck and not knowing how to continue on. Because some of the topics I am addressing in my memoir are sensitive and let's be honest, were even more difficult to live through, I needed help. I just didn't know exactly what I needed help with being that I had written so much already. I found that reliving it in detail on my own was making the developmental edit process of the book too difficult for me to do without professional guidance. When Amanda's "Finally Get Your Book Done" video came up on my instagram feed I was literally at a stand still. I was ready to burn my drafts and walk away from it all. When I reached out and explained that I had been working on this personal project for years, I quickly realized by the response that maybe not all hope was lost. After a couple of phone calls and zoom sessions, I took a chance on Amanda and her team to match me with a writer/editor to see if this would be a good fit for what I was looking to accomplish. What I have realized over the past few months working with my writer is that not only have I been matched with the absolute best person possible, Ashley, but I am confident today that my dream to put my story into to the world is finally possible. Ashley has not only far surpassed any expectations I had in this process, but her compassion and patience with me as we have taken my stories page by page to revised them, has helped me heal parts of myself that I didn't know were still wounded. Writing a memoir is no easy task. Especially when you're writing about past traumatic events. As someone who has chosen to do a lot of hard things on my own, I found that when it came to this, I couldn't. I needed help with it. Although I know there is no shame in asking for help, when it came to how personal and sensitive I was about my story I was afraid to allow someone in to help me tell it. I am so SO happy to have fought through my fear and allow this process to unfold the way it has. I know that when I am finally done with it, when I can hold my book in my hand, I will not only be proud of it, I will be forever changed. I'm not done yet and it already had changed me in so many wonderful ways! I am so grateful for Ashley, Amanda, David, and the whole team at FGYBD. This company gives regular people like me who may not know all the "how's" but because we know we have a good "WHY" we can take our "WHY" and help others know they can do hard things too. I'm finally doing this and I am proud of myself for not giving up. Having someone like Ashley who has been willing to come along side me and help me express my story in my own way has helped me not only see that my story is worthy, but that I am too. Writing is a process and if you haven't ever done it before, take it from me, having the help Finally Get Your Book Done offers will make your journey so much better. In a few months, I look forward to posting my final review with a picture of my book in hand! Eternally grateful.

I have wanted to write a book about my life since as far back as 1997. My story is so twisted that I had no idea whatsoever where to start. But, then I ran upon a social media post about this particular business. I jumped out on a limb; honestly thinking, “these people are going to think I’ve lost my mind”. It was actually just the opposite. After speaking with Amanda (the owner); I decided to give it a shot. Within a week, I was introduced to a writer who matched up perfectly with me. She and I have had several sessions. I talk, she writes. She has done an amazing job of making the pieces of my life fit together perfectly in order to create a story that readers can enjoy. Amanda has compassion for others and she not only writing it. But she’s highlighting a message for others to see; and she’s doing an amazing job! I can’t wait to finish my book. It was an astoundingly fulfilling and empowering experience for which i am forever grateful. Theresa was my writer and she captured the story of my experience of my my mom dying when i was only 19 years old and away at college. The whole experience was very moving, all the tears that i had suppressed at 19 years old came bursting out as I shared my experience. I love my mom and I got to honor my relationship with her by capturing her death and the intense grief surrounding it. It was cathartic. It was also very commemorative and honoring my extraordinary mom by getting done one paper and having my story and her story forever captured in writing. I loved working with Theresa. She listens intently and capture my exact experience of the tremendous loss and grief and the magnificent love I have for my mom. Theresa is brilliant at listening and even hearing things I was saying and yet not saying them outloud - the whole of my experience she captured in her recreating me with her written word. She is an expert and incredibly empathetic. Thank you Finally Get Your Book Done for having me do just that!
