Canberra Magic Rugs is a hidden gem in Mawson. I wanted to buy a new rug for my lounge room and had intended on taking my time finding the right one. I commenced my search online and noticed CMR in Mawson. Living in Tuggeranong, I thought I was off to a good start and went in with the intention of only having a look. I met Sulieman who immediately put me at ease by being softly spoken and not at all pushy. I showed him photos of my lounge room and as I looked at the various beautifully made handmade rugs, he pointed out what size and colours that would work well in the space. I could not help but be infected by Sulieman’s love of his rugs and their provenance.I ended up buying two. One from Persia and one from Afghanistan. We recently went looking for a handmade rug for our lounge. We were looking for something to replace an old, much loved rug we had bought in Kashmir some 44 years ago.After doing some online research and visiting a number of shops around Canberra, we stopped by Canberra Magic Rugs in Mawson. We found Suleiman extremely helpful and knowledgeable. After careful consideration - checking of dimensions, patterns, colours and materials from their extensive collection, we selected a beautiful 180 x 260cm rug with a Kazak design handmade in Afghanistan.As an added bonus, Suleiman arranged for our old Kashmir rug to be cleaned and repaired.It looks as good as new.
