I’m relatively new to CrossFit Jungle Gym still (only a few months in), but it feels like home already. I legitimately love it.First, let’s talk about the incredible coaches. Short story: they are INCREDIBLE human beings. They check in with you and care about you as a person. They teach you each new skill with patience making sure you understand it and are doing things safely. They modify workouts to make sure they are a good fit for your ability level (while also pushing you!). And they even make sure you are safely working around any pre-existing injuries you may have (which as a competitive martial artist, I have many) while also getting an amazing workout. They’re fun, and encouraging, and awesome people.Second, I really have been blown away at the community of people that make up CrossFit Jungle Gym. They are kind and welcoming and supportive. They help you and push you and cheer for you and, even when you are brand new and have no idea what you are doing, treat you like an equal. I have NEVER felt like someone has talked down to me or looked at me like I was “less than” even though I wasn’t anywhere near their level of athleticism. As someone who has been an athlete her whole life and has been a member of a bazillion gyms in the past, that is NOT the usual. I’ve never felt more welcome and accepted at a gym than I have at CrossFit Jungle Gym. The community truly is special and I feel so lucky to be a part of it.As a 41 year old mom of two, I legitimately never thought I’d be a CrossFit person, but I’m hooked. I look forward to coming to classes each week, I am loving the gains I am already seeing, and love the community of people that I see each time I walk in. I’ve lost weight, I’ve gained muscle and confidence and it’s been incredible for my mental health. CrossFit SEEMS scary, but I promise you, it’s not. They will meet you where you are at, you just need to show up.Bottom line: Just join. Seriously, it’s the single best decision I’ve made for myself in years. I’m a lifer.
