Overall the staff are friendly and helpful, and the dexa scans are a great way to track fitness progress in terms of body comp. However the interpretation of the results and comparisons they provide may not be reliable for asian Americans in terms of body composition and bone density. According to dexa fit website, the database they use for comparing lean mass indices (ALMI, FFMI) is here: (have to remove the link so google doesnt flag for spam), but it is pretty much only caicuasians in the usaHowever Asian ethicities are known to have lower lean mass and high body fat then others ethnicites in the scientific literatures and most scientists recommend comparasion against their own ethnicities. Some databases for asians do exist with the same machine: (can not add link here in yhe review) however dexa fit does not use these in comparasion based on their official guide, regardless of ethnicity. Cutoffs for low muscle mass in asian popular are thus lower then other ethnicities which they dont take into acccount. The same arguement goes for bone density, where it is well known asians have less bone density, but this does not necessarily lead to fractures: (have links to this but cant post links here)Ethnic considerations are not taken into t-scores either despite this. Therefore i’d econourage asian american clients to focus on the metrics and trying to improve them and finding other opinions on whether or not your metrics are healthy because they dexa fit does not seem to account for this. Do your own reaearch to understand your metrics, where you stand and how to best improve them (if you are asian american). This is something the staff, while friendly and helpful, don’t at all understandIn addition, there is another company is boston (bodyspec) that provdies dexa scans on the same machine at half the rate so this is overpriced
