He impressed me by not rushing to do surgery right away, he advised me to try this brace shaped for just my body to see how much he could straighten me out 1st. As a last resort he recommended I have a fusion from T-3 to the Sacrum with 2 rods . Dr Mermelstein was referred by my chiropractor, three years ago I had back surgery because I had chronic back pain. The surgery didn’t seem to accomplish the goal which was to feel relief from the pain it just continued to get worse since the surgery. I saw Dr Reed first and then Dr Mermelstein came in and discussed his thoughts based upon my comments as to how I was feeling. They gave me the most thorough examination I’ve ever received it was remarkable, they listened to everything I had to say and were so understanding and so very kind even when some of my questions seemed silly. They were both so patient through the entire exam I didn’t feel rushed even for one second. They scheduled me for and mri as well as a ct scan as the records I have are two years old and probably don’t give an accurate depiction of what’s really going on in my back. I’ve only had one visit so far but I’m looking forward to following thru with the plan that’s been laid out for me. The doctors were super professional yet broke everything down to terms a regular person could understand. Dr. Mermelstein literally saved my life; I was in severe pain and agony from a large herniated disc in my lower back that was crushing my sciatic nerve. My entire left leg had stabbing pain down to my ankle; my left foot was totally numb and tingly.
