I joined Ironclad CrossFit a little over a year and a half ago, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. When I first signed up, I wasn’t even sure CrossFit was right for me. I had a history of neck and back injuries, and just about everyone I knew told me it was a bad idea. They all said CrossFit was known for causing injuries. But if you know me, you know I usually like to find out for myself instead of listening to everyone else.I still remember walking into my first class. I was intimidated and honestly wondered if I belonged there. From day one, though, everyone made me feel welcome, from the coaches to the members. That feeling never changed. The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable and patient. They take the time to explain every movement, make sure you’re doing it safely, and never hesitate to scale a workout to your ability or help you work through an injury or limitation. They truly go above and beyond to make sure everyone, no matter their fitness level, feels supported and successful. This gym has given me so much more than physical strength. It gave me my confidence back. My back pain is gone, I have more energy than I’ve had in years, and I feel stronger both physically and mentally.I’ve always struggled with consistency. Starting something has never been the hard part, sticking with it was. When I joined, I had no idea how long I’d last. But something Danielle, the owner, told me has stayed with me ever since: “It’s not about motivation, it’s about discipline.” Those words have become something I remind myself of all the time.Today, my husband and I are both part of this incredible community, and it truly feels like family. I’m so grateful I took that chance despite what everyone else thought. If you’ve been thinking about trying CrossFit but you’re nervous or unsure, this is your sign. Walk through the door—you won’t regret it.
