Their tacos are some of my favorite around and the staff is so friendly.Original Review:Tacos and Margaritas is an authentic, family-owned taqueria right here on Union Street in Schenectady.Everything is made in-house, from their fresh tortillas down to the margarita sour mix. They also have an open kitchen concept, so you can see your food being made from start to finish!If you visited during their first few weeks and noticed a grab-and-go layout, they have officially transitioned into a full-service, sit down vibe. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the owner’s passion for authentic food really shows.The tacos were honestly really good but can’t be compared to any of my usual favorite spots, because these were just different in the best way. The rice and beans were really flavorful and the margaritas were made perfectly.I highly recommend checking them out if you haven’t already and if you went when they first opened, go check them out again now that they’ve transitioned to sit down.

I’m not sure if they read/respond to reviews, but this place would be 5 stars if there was some way to get it delivered, or at the very least have an online pickup system. I do not have time to eat in but would love to order if they had the option to. I’m sure others feel the same way. I hope they consider DoorDash or an alternative.

My wife and I had an amazing experience! We ordered six tacos and two alcoholic beverages, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. The drinks were great, and the food exceeded our expectations.A special shoutout to our waitress, Jay, who made the experience even better. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever being overbearing. Had an amazing dinner experience here. Walked right in to the open garage door and sat at the bar with a friendly smiling staff. The food was absolutely diabolically good. We had margaritas and they were perfectly balanced. This place is 10/10, will absolutely be making this a frequent staple

Great new spot on Union Street. As a very trendy New York City type vibe. The quality of food is top notch for Mexican. They're currently in a soft opening with a limited menu. The atmosphere is awesome. The service was quick and everyone was friendly. We will definitely be back even if it is just for drinks due to the vibe.

Such a fun new spot on Union st. Colorful, lively and delicious food. I’m always a fan of an open kitchen concept. Lots of variety for street tacos including cactus!! It tasted like green pepper.The server was very attentive and friendly. The owner came around to check in. He’s very passionate about bringing an authentic taqueria to the capital region.

I know Luis personally and I will say the same thing I told him. I Love Mexican, but I usually don’t eat it around here until now! The food is just that good. My boyfriend and I just left about 5 minutes ago. And this place was very good! Everything came out within a fair amount of time (quick, but you know not TOO quick) and we sat at the bar. It was not very busy when we came in so we enjoyed the atmosphere. Jaleah served us at the bar and she was amazing! I got the spicy pina margarita and I swear she put her heart and soul into it. Chips and quest were good, tacos were amazing and VERY filling. We also shared the birria fries which had a very generous amount of protein on it. Again Jaleah was very attentive and a total sweetheart! We will absolutely be back.

Liked the vibe! We ordered Tequila Sunrise which was amazing. For food, we had called for Chicken fries, wings, and tacos. The fries were really good and portion was generous. Tacos were good too but wings were average. Barbeque sauce was on the wings was too sweet.But we had a good time and the staff was really friendly.

I am an al pastor fanatic but usually quite disappointed. These were the best al pastor tacos I have had north of Houston. Deliciously caramelized on the crisp outside of the pork pieces.Basically, that's a guaranteed five stars from me, despite the fact that chips and salsa cost $5 (they did refill free), service with the new restaurant buzz and new employees was a bit chaotic (but friendly), and any other factors that might have soured my attitude.It was a pleasant evening, and I also loved that the big garage-door-style front entrance was wide open, bringing the beautiful evening into the restaurant and no doubt adding a much-needed festive touch to Upper Union Street.

Wife and I dined in and had a great time.Their chips and guacamole were phenomenal. Their drinks were spot on. The tacos were delicious. On top of it, everything was very reasonably priced. So my wife and I just had dinner there, I think they’ve only been open a few weeks. I found the atmosphere to be boisterous, noisy, busy. On Union street, with the front doors open, it was nice and a lot of fun. I found our waitress to be excellent, and the service fast. I ordered the Carne Asada quesadilla, and my wife ordered the three tacos. I found the quesadilla to be excellent, especially when washed down with the house margarita. My wife really liked her tacos. Portions are perfect for the street food vibe they are going for.

**edited review**Original review below. We went back after a little over a week later just to see what has changed. The helpful server( third one from original review) recognized us upon entry, greeted us and thanked us for giving them another chance. I'm glad we did! Our server was new, I believe her name was Vera and she did well! We also had a gentleman in a yellow Saint Rose shirt that was great who was helping out at the bar, as well as, keeping a mindful eye on our table. He came around with a house made flavored tequila on the house to taste it, it was truly amazing. I won't spoil the flavor profile, but, it was really quite something. They plan on selling it in a few weeks, if you are a fan of tequila, I think it is worth a try. We ordered the Al Pastor, chicken tacos, chips and guac, and a cheese quesadilla. For drinks, 2 mojitos one plain and the other guava. Everything came out in a timely manner, was hot and all of it tasted great. Their house salsa is fantastic, smokey with nice heat. Tacos come with a dab of guacamole on top along with the typical cilantro and onion. Limes on the side. Drinks were fine, a very good size for the price point.All in all a massive improvement over our previous visit, I'm glad to see service is getting under control. Review scores adjusted to match, I wish they allowed half stars because I would give them a 4.5.**original review**So, I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt that they are new and there are some growing pains. But our experience was pretty awful. Our server needed the menu in order to enter in our drink orders, I don't know if the pos system is set up wrong or what. Then, a different server came up and took or meal orders. We ordered vegetarian tacos, Al Pastor tacos, an order of chips and guac and an order of chips and queso. It seems the second server did share our order with our original server because she came back and confirmed the order. All well and good so far. We ended up getting our drinks shortly after, then I don't know what happened but everything broke down after that. The second server dropped off the chips and guac after about 5-10 minutes from when we got our drinks. Another 10 minutes after that, a different server came out with an order that wasn't ours. It was chicken tacos and what was either Birria or carnitas. So they went back to someone else. We sat for a good 20 minutes before that same server came by and told us that our order was given to a different table and ours is being made fresh. We alerted her that we never got the queso and chips, so, she went and got that quickly. Okay.. No problem.15-20 minutes later our original server shows up with our order... It's also wrong. It's 2 platters of Birria or carnitas. Still not the right order. We tell her and she has the audacity to say that the clearly shredded pork is the cactus. I've never in my life seen cactus shredded like meat. And even if it was, it's still very clearly not Al Pastor. We told her we were done and to take the tacos off the bill. So, the third server walked by and saw we still didn't have our food, we told her the situation. She apologized profusely, told us all about the table situation and there not labeled right or were changed, short staffed, etc etc. but we were done at that point. We asked for the check. It was a good 10-15 minutes before it finally showed. She comped the chips and queso.Never saw a manager, never got any servers names, to be honest I don't think we should've paid and everything really should've been comped. But, it's fine. We did consume the drinks and chips. It seemed like everyone around us was getting their orders correctly, I really don't understand what in the world happened there.The restaurant itself is very nice; really nice tile work all around, it's modern and chic.. But they should probably consider losing that AI art. It clashes with how nicely designed the tile work is.The third server we ended up with was lovely. She was very apologetic over what happened but ya know the damage was done.
