In general, the work performed by the company, constructing the roof over my deck, seemed to reflect a business model where the owner secures the job and relies heavily on a crew to handle the tasks, rather than being personally involved on-site. While this approach might work for some, I find it far preferable when the owner is present, actively overseeing and contributing to the work.In my case, the owner (whose company operated under a different name during my project) placed considerable trust in his crew, visiting the site rarely and offering minimal oversight. Unfortunately, my concerns about poor workmanship and the crew's apparent lack of expertise were often dismissed with comments like, “Are you a carpenter?” or “Let them finish first; then you can judge.” When I raised the point that waiting until the end would bury errors under the final layers of construction, my concerns were met with visible irritation.Eventually, when the owner did visit the site, he acknowledged the issues I had flagged. To his credit, he replaced the crew with a new team that demonstrated greater attention to detail and professionalism. Part of the project was redone, and the results were significantly better.The project, which started on June 17th and finished October 2nd, took almost four months to complete. My last interaction with the owner was when he collected the final payment. However, I was left with lingering concerns about site cleanup. Though someone was sent to clean, the effort was incomplete, and no follow-up was conducted to ensure the task was properly done. Even months later, I still find nails, screws, plastic wrapping around the site and large patches of dead grass - a frustrating reminder of the saying, “The bitterness of poor workmanship remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.”That said, I want to acknowledge some positives. The owner did make efforts to fix mistakes, bringing in new tools and materials to improve the outcome. While this took time, his willingness to address the issues deserves recognition in today’s market.In conclusion.If my experience was an isolated incident and the company’s usual projects are of high quality, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them. However, if what I encountered reflects a consistent pattern, it might be wise to explore other options. I hope for the former. Less

I recently contracted with Marcos to remodel 2 bathrooms and a kitchen countertop. Marcos took the time to sit with me and discuss what I wanted the rooms to look like when completed. We discuss different ideas in terms of tiling, tubs, lights, toilets, etc. Several times throughout the process, Macros made some suggestions regarding choices/options as well as listening to my changes in choices in the middle of the project. Marcos and his team were easy to work with and did quality work. I am very pleased with the finished product and the bathrooms and new countertop look great. In the middle of the project, I then asked to have my hallway with high ceilings painted. Marcos’ team was able to complete the painting while the bathrooms were being finished. They did a lot of prep work to ensure my floors and furniture were not damaged. He answered all of my questions and I am very happy with the job. I found them to be polite, trustworthy, dependable, skillful, reasonably priced and flexible on how you purchase their services!We had a very tight schedule at the end, and these guys finished everything in time and on budget! We had some items on the punch list because of others contractor's mishaps, and they didn't blink, they just fixed the problems and didn't add one cent to the project. They did some exterior painting on the porch columns but mostly interior painting, and they did a fantastic job.I for one, would not use any other contractor for work on my home, and I would absolutely recommend them for service to anyone I know. We hired Marcos with HM Painters to finish our basement which was completely unfinished. Marcos was very professional and knowledgeable. He listened to all of our requests and did exactly what we wanted. We wanted a drop ceiling and had some unique requests like creating a basement root cellar room. Marcos and his team did an amazing job, it turned out beautifully. The drop ceiling, vinyl flooring, utility room and root cellar are better than I pictured. He put in a vent for the root cellar that works great. He made a beautiful custom door to our utility room so that the oil tank could fit through. His team finished the stairs to the basement beautifully. His team did everything from the design, construction, and painting. What I also really appreciated was how he communicated the entire time so we knew what to expect. His team was respectful and didn't disturb the rest of our house during the construction. I cannot recommend HM Home improvements and Marcos highly enough.First a little background.When my home was constructed I had a very large master bath shower installed on the second floor.In 12 years, leaks from the shower collapsed the ceiling below four times.Each time I brought in a different contractor whose repair would only last a year or two.Finally I decided to redo the shower but wanted to keep the very large original base and electronic controls.I brought in numerous contractors and bath refinisher companies.They all either wanted to:Completely replace the shower with their own systems costing 3x what HM charged.Replace it with a smaller, more conventional shower.Marcos was so much more knowledgeable, than the other contractors, about how to prevent leaks while retaining my original base and electronics.He was the only contractor willing to do that.He worked around my schedule, allowed me to purchase my own materials, and educated me on the process every step of the way.The quality of his work was first rate, and less than half the cost proposed by other contractors.When I mentioned I did not particularly like my current tile floor, he came up with a clever, cost effective way to install a vinyl wood look floor on top.The resulting shower and floor are beautiful, and Marcos’s obvious expertise, and clear explanations give me confidence that my shower leaks are a thing of the past.
