I cannot recommend this boat mechanic under any circumstances.
Also in response to their yet another excuse on the google review. I did my due diligence when I selected you do work on the boat. I sent you pictures of the motor, cables with serial numbers and control box. I did this before you even took possession of the boat so making it about the age of the motor isn’t an excuse. You had all the details from day one. You didn’t even touch the boat for a month.
The main reason I chose this shop in the first place was that I had an upcoming vacation and needed my boat ready in time. I was assured they could definitely complete the repair before my trip. Unfortunately, they did not meet that commitment.
When I dropped my boat off, I was told the repair should take one to two weeks. During drop-off, I was also upsold an additional service for the engine, which I agreed to, trusting their recommendation. However, that service was never even completed. Instead, my boat sat there for 37 days with little to no communication. Despite the constant delays, I remained incredibly patient and understanding, knowing that unexpected issues can happen with repairs. I repeatedly had to call and text just to get updates, and every update seemed to come with another excuse.
One of the explanations I was given was that the parts were on backorder. However, after doing my own research, I found what appeared to be the same parts readily available online with estimated delivery times of only 2–3 days, which made that explanation difficult to understand.
Then, after 37 days, I was once again told my boat would be finished by the end of the week. The latest update I got was that the wrong parts had been ordered. Instead of having a repair completed, I was informed they would have to reorder the correct parts and couldn’t even provide an estimate of when they would arrive. After waiting more than a month, finding out the repair hadn’t progressed because the wrong parts had been ordered was incredibly frustrating.
At that point, I decided to pick up my boat. What I found was unbelievable. The propeller was buried in the sand, the battery was completely dead, the boat was covered in pine needles, and it wasn’t even put back together. After more than five weeks, the original problem still hadn’t been repaired, service not completed, and my boat was returned to me in worse condition than when I dropped it off.
To make matters worse, when I came to pick up my boat, the owner didn’t even have the courage to face me and instead sent his wife to handle the situation.
A repair shop’s responsibility goes beyond turning wrenches. It includes honest communication, respecting a customer’s property, treating that property with respect, and delivering on the work they promise. Unfortunately, I experienced none of those things.
37 days of waiting, poor communication, excuses about parts, ordering the wrong parts, upselling services that were never completed, no completed repair, and a boat returned dirty, neglected, with a dead battery and partially disassembled is completely unacceptable. I trusted this shop with something I value, remained patient throughout the process, and they failed to deliver at every step.
If you’re considering taking your boat here, I’d strongly recommend looking elsewhere. My experience was a complete waste of time, and I hope this review helps someone else avoid the same frustration.
