I recently had Indiana Spray foam help me with a retrofit project on a 1970s home with a main bedroom above an unconditioned garage. They suggested cutting 2-3 strips of drywall perpendicular to the joists, use that access to pluck out the old fiberglass batting, and then spray open cell foam into the cavity. I was responsible for finding my own drywall repair. The work itself turned into a "nightmare" project for them because my joists were very awkwardly spaced and blocked. They spent twice as long as anticipated to do a thorough, proper job. This resulted in WAY more cuts in the drywall than anticipated. They had briefly mentioned more cuts may be necessary early in the project, but I was at first taken aback by the final product. I had to pivot from simple drywall repair to nearly complete re-drywall of my garage ceiling. As I reflected on it, I realized a sub-par company would have completed the originally intended cuts and then just done a sloppy job, accessing whatever they could and leaving voids where they couldn't. So, thank you Indiana Spray foam for doing what was necessary to provide an effective, complete, insulation. Despite the additional labor and foam required, they never once tried to increase the cost to me. Josh, Nelson, JR, and Tony faced the "nightmare" job head-on and gave me great insulation. The aftermath with the drywall repair has been a headache, but that is my house's fault. Not Indiana Spray Foams. At least all the effort and cost has led to a desirable outcome! My main bedroom is now whatever comfortable temperature I set despite the temperature outside. No more 53 degree mornings and supplemental space heaters!
