My beloved 95 year old father was in assisted living and was struggling in his last days. We called on Custom Care Hospice services for his comfort and guidance for family members.I called Custom Care on a Friday and asked that we start immediately. Julie, the coordinator, met me for registration and by the time we finished with the paperwork the nurse was already in the room evaluating Dad. Rachel, the nurse, prescribed some medication to ease the angst Dad was going through and to ease the congestion in his chest.By 11pm the medication had not been dispensed and I called the company to investigate. Rachel came back out, in terrible weather, to dispense medication to Dad at 2:00am on Saturday morning. There was a hiccup between the nursing staff at assisted living and hospice prescriptions which was eventually corrected. My only regret in this process is that we did not start the hospice care sooner for my father’s comfort. The nurses were second to none - theirs is a tough job and they handled it with professionalism and compassion. Thank you Rachel, Malory and Don. Thank you, Julie, for the coordination.I received a call from an Eatate Specialist after my dad passed who went through all of the after care details needing attention - how can anyone know to contact all of the various services, agencies, etc, that need notification in order to protect the estate from fraud, to get benefits paid and subscriptions stopped? I thank Mishelle from the bottom of my heart for her assistance, guidance and precise follow-up email. As in all services, the mission statement of the company sets the tone but the real value is in the individuals who are the hands-on people actually providing the care. Our team was the perfect storm of end of life care and neither my dad nor I could have done it as peacefully without them. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Cynthia Berlier
