Had a beautiful full spa day at The Gainsborough. This was a birthday gift and I know my husband was looking to book Bedford Spa but it was closed on the day (Monday) and I’m very pleased it was or wouldn’t have found this gem. Started off really well, shown around and left to get settled. A nice size property, nothing too big that it feels impersonal. First port of call was pool area. This was v nice as was the jacuzzi but admittedly I didn’t spend much time there as wanted to relax outside as the weather was stunning. First treatment was a full body massage with Amelia, who was fantastic. Option of hot stones, which I took. It was absolute bliss. Then had a herbal tea and a chill in the relaxation room which I have to say was stunning. Better than some in bigger establishments. They’ve got this just right. Lunch was afternoon tea with prosecco which I could not fault. I had read some slightly negative reviews on the food but I think management have taken this on board as what I was served was delicious and nothing akin to the reviews. I also saw what others were having and it all looked very tasty and well presented. Further chilling - outside on the day bed with a wine - and then a facial, again with Amelia. Sublime. I love a facial and this was up there with one of the best I’ve had. Purchased some products - no hard sell - with a free gift included. The premises is off the main road and throughout the day the only noise heard was birds and the resident peacocks. I’m over the moon that this was booked for me. It was fantastic value and just what I needed to rejuvenate. I will definitely be returning and recommend you treat yourself - you will not be disappointed.

Facilities & welcome on arrival/ departure could not fault. Although a little dirty in places (corners of the toilet cubical’s/ showers) again attention to detail. I have never been made to feel like I wasn’t important as a customer, until now in an establishment such as this. If this is how everyone is treated when they share constructive criticism, then good luck to them. Not everyone will take the time to complain & simply won’t return. I certainly won’t be. I was contemplating, on in the near future, joining as a member along with my husband as we are so local. But this is absolutely out of the question. Just horrendous & will not be recommending to anybody I know.

I went for a half day special offer to this spa last Thursday. For the price that we paid it was excellent value for money and we had a lovely time. We had a swim on arrival and then wanted a coffee in the courtyard, no staff around or bell so had to go back to reception and ask but coffee was good and some better furniture outside from previous visit. We had use of the facilities for the afternoon and it included a grazing lunch with an Aperol spritz. The food we had was the Ploughmans which was excellent a lovely selection and presented nicely but just one issue. The bread had been warmed I think in an air fryer and it was like a rock and just couldn't be eaten, shame as it looked like lovely bread. After the food and drink was brought to us we didn't see a soul, no one asked if everything was ok or would we like another drink. The treatment we had was a hydra facial for 50mins. Wow what a lovely experience, best facial I have ever had, excellent. All the staff we came into contact with were friendly and helpful. A small suggestion is a buzzer at the cafe and possibly a clock and lattes served in a glass with handle or mug as far too hot to touch for 10 mins. Nice local spa from Haverhill and I would return.

I enjoyed a spa afternoon at the Gainsborough Spa and thoroughly recommend the whole experience. Even with a healthy number of guests enjoying the facilities, the staff were incredibly attentive and did a brilliant job ensuring everything ran seamlessly. The entire place felt calm and relaxed. The food in the cafe was lovely, and despite a good turnout of guests, we didn’t wait long at all. The new gym looks beautiful, and my massage was lovely. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish I highly recommend it.

After going to the Gainsborough for many years. I couldnt help but feel extremely disappointed with our visit on 10th January. The whole spa was really cold and there were no flip flops therefore we had to walk round in bare feet! The relaxation room was no longer the quiet space it used to be with loads of outside noise from the cafe! The food was poor a plain sandwich and a handful of crisps not even a little salad/garnish on the side. No cake or snacks in stock. The cleanliness wasnt the best either, the changing rooms were quite grubby. The massage was brilliant and the highlight of the day. Its a real shame to see it go downhill as it was always a nice warm place with excellent food and facilities 😕

I went here for a half day spa retreat, I couldn’t fault the treatment we had received - brilliant massage however the biggest let down is the lack of facilities, the pool was freezing cold and the steps going down into the pool had grit built up either side. The lounge chairs aren’t comfortable at all, they are too short for you to lay down and when you do sit on them, you can feel the metal through the chair. The relaxation room is too small for what it should be, and for hygiene purposes there should be fresh blankets each time someone sits on them - it is abit unwelcoming to come to a chair with the blanket messy on the chair. The lack of food and drink that was on offer too wasn’t great, there was no crisps/snack bars available and very limited on drinks too. I wouldn’t return as it didn’t feel refreshing or relaxing. Overall it is in a lovely location and a beautiful building but inside it is very tired and could do with some TLC.

Excellent Reiki treatment with Maddie. I would definitely recommend her and will be returning for another one very soon.

I booked a full body massage as a self care treat, having never used The Gainsborough before. It was simply lovely- facilities were immaculately clean, lovely range of spaces with the added touch of waiting for my treatment in the Relaxation Room which was tranquil and beautifully presented. The massage itself was perfect and I already can’t wait to book another! Will be back!

Enjoyed my first reiki session with Maddie - very relaxing and enlightening talking to her afterwards as she explained my energies as she experienced them. Look forward to another session with her soon

Had a fabulous day. The staff were amazing and we had lovely treatments. Except the food we had pre ordered. It was awful. I really wish I had taken a photo of it. I had the Brie and cranberry sandwich. The bread was soggy in the middle and stale around the edges. Inedible. The lovely lady bought me a menu to choose off as could not replace. I opted for a ham and cheese sandwich. Big mistake. The sparse ham was so thin and it was see through and the cheese slice was tasteless and yet again the bread was stale but the worst bit was the lettuce was slimy and should have been in the bin! Mother’s sausage toasted sandwich was as bad, hard and cold. She did not enjoy. My sister wished she hadn’t eaten her chicken salad sandwich either as was not nice. We were so disappointed as always had lovely food in the past. For a spa you expect far better quality than what was served to us! Besides the awful food the rest was lovely and recommend.

Super spa afternoon at Gainsborough, staff are second to none so warm friendly and efficient. Stone massage was superb felt as if I was floating on air, cannot recommend enough.

I had such a lovely experience at The Gainsborough Spa in Sudbury. From start to finish, everything was just what I needed. I had a back massage, facial, and scalp treatment – all carried out by Lucy, who was absolutely amazing. She was so friendly, warm, and gave the most incredible massage. I felt so relaxed and cared for throughout. The spa itself is beautiful – peaceful, welcoming, and not too busy. I really enjoyed the jacuzzi and the relaxation room, both were perfect for unwinding. If you’re looking for a relaxing spa day in Suffolk, I highly recommend The Gainsborough. I’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely amazing Spa Day today. Our monthly Spa day at The Gainsborough 🤗 We booked the Spring Glow Spa Day. When your therapist can run their hands along your shoulders at the end of your full body massage and all the knots have gone, you know you've had a good massage 🥰 My Therapist Jess and my Husbands Amelia were brilliant. The perfect hosts from when we arrived, to delivering our treatments. Both friendly and chatty while being 100% professional and delivering amazing treatments. This is why we come back!! Thank you for yet another truly relaxing day ☺️

It was the best treatment we have ever had and we were both left feeling very relaxed and left feeling like I was on cloud 9! Such a lovely relaxing day with a friend :) I've been here a few times for spa days with my girls but it was my friends first visit. We used the spa on a Monday and it was the quietest in my experience. We had a tinsel & tranquillity day booked which included full use of the facilities with a 75 minute full body massage and facial. We both chose to include hot stones. Amy was my therapist and she is absolutely amazing. I can honestly say I floated off to heaven :) We had afternoon tea - which was very nice - and a bottle of prosecco as it was a celebration (hic) . As others have mentioned, the spa has a lovely pool and the facilities are very clean. Towels and robes provided are very fluffy. The relaxing room is lovely addition to use across the day. I have no doubt we will be returning. Thankyou to all the team, we had a lovely day.

Having just completed some medical treatment I was looking for a relaxing day out to go with my daughter. We had been to The Gainsborough before and loved the ambience . As before it was spotlessly clean and the staff were really welcoming. We each had treatments which were excellent and very enjoyable Then we had lunch. We were so relaxed after our treatments we then went and sat around the pool. It was quite busy being a Friday so we were happy just relaxing . Woukd highly recommend and look forward to the next one.

I simply had to write a review after a blissful 50 minute facial with Lucy. After a very stressful morning I was treated to the most relaxing treat within the calming environment of the spa at the Gainsborough. The products left my skin feeling wonderful and the head massage literally had me drifting off to sleep, quite an achievement considering my frazzled state when I arrived! Thank you Lucy!

⭐️ New Year - radiance spa day - On arrival, we were offered a warm friendly welcome. Loved all the facilities especially the sauna and steam room . The relaxation lounge is a beautiful space too, perfect for meditation. The building is beautiful with the beams in the gym and pool area. The 50 minute treatment was simply divine, felt like I was floating afterwards ✨️ What I loved most was the energy and atmosphere which lends itself to an overall relaxed and healing experience. Highly recommend

I came here with my mother in law for a relaxing spa day and this is exactly what we got. Louise the host was very friendly and helpful, the service was very quick and the food was delicious! We then had a Back, face and scalp massage with Lucy and Jess which was amazing and left us both feeling very relaxed and glowing in the face! We highly recommend coming here!!

Excellent visit, been here a few times for treatments and spa days. Pool facilities are beautiful and the treatments were superb from Amelia and Lucy. I would highly recommend the back,face and scalp treatment prefect to get rid of our knots. The afternoon tea was delicious and the relaxing room was perfect way to end our day. Having enjoyed several spa’s as a couple we were both very excited to try out Gainsborough Spa as a new venue especially as they were having a Black Friday deal. On arrival we were greeted at reception and asked to fill in an expected health care check form as we were both booked in for a massage. Handing in our completed forms we sat opposite the reception area not a few feet away and watched as a crowd of six workers hovered over the receptionist who was busy on her laptop. We both felt very intimated as our personal medical form's were on full show, with the girls standing beside them. The ladies were very busy chatting to each other and most on their mobile phones with one of them even filing down her nails. Very unprofessional we thought as we soon realised there were many “staff only” rooms which they could have discreetly used. The door was wide open at the back of the reception to the kitchen area which we felt was odd too. We were then greeted by one of the massage ladies and asked if we had been before to which we said no and was treated to a guided tour. She was very pleasant but it was a shame she didn’t mention they had a small gym there, which we would have used. . . we only realised this on the way out . . . The changing rooms leading to the pool were adequate and the pool area rather small. No room for loungers which would have been very nice to rest on, just a few hard benches instead. The full body massage for each of us was held in a double room which we really liked. The massage itself was very enjoyable and the ladies giving us the treatment were very pleasant too. There was a nice room area too to relax in, although this would have be fitted from some soft music. The swimming pool was pretty cold, glad we didn’t go the week before as some of the full members said it was even colder then. The hot tub was nice but felt extremely crowed with just four of us in it. We had a complimentary drink and noted the cake and giant scones on display for sale. Reading reviews we are led to believe that the scones are frozen and so we’re dry when thawed out and on sale, and the cakes were bought in. There were no other food offerings available, other than a few flavours of crisps. Hardly healthy options as you would come to expect from a health spa. Some customers wanted to purchase a couple of the beauty products which took 5 minutes to process through the till. They were clearly in a muddle and we luckily pointed out to them that they were being over charged as they were a part of a promotion they were currently running. Another member of staff was sitting on a customer table again on her laptop which seems to take a definite priority over their customers, and with only the few cafe tables they had these were piled up with customers dirty cups, plates etc. Overall despite the Black Friday offer we thought the venue was very much over priced, the overall attention to detail was missing and the place certainly needed a good refresh. We will NOT be returning as with so many of their ex customers who have left reviews. There are certainly better spa’s in the area and at cheaper prices too . . .

I had a voucher bought for me for my birthday which was easy to use with a simple phone call to make the booking. My spa day itself was perfect, I planned a solo afternoon to get some me time & it turned out a lovely peaceful afternoon. The staff were super helpful & friendly and my lunch was delicious. I had a neck back & shoulder massage plus facial which was done by Amelia who was very kind & put me at ease. The treatment itself worked wonders and it was lovely to chill in the relaxation room afterwards. All facilities were clean & in working order. My only downside would be that there is not much seating or loungers around the pool but unfortunately there is just not the room for it so the relaxation room was a nice area to move to once I had used the pool & jacuzzi. Highly recommend and will be returning ASAP!

Lovely relaxing day spent at The Spa. The Tinsel and Tranquillity package is just amazing. The 75 minute treatment is perfect and completed our day. Amelia and Lucy our therapist have set the bar so high. I don't think we could have had a better day ☺️

I have just came home feeling very relaxed and I’ve had a afternoon where I could really unwind and de stress. I had the most amazing back massage and Hydramemory facial by Jessica. It was amazing and definitely has sorted my back out for sure! My skin feels so smooth and hydrated after my facial. Jessica used some cold ice spoons on my face which was the best part! I will definitely recommend this place!
