I am not perfect but try to maintain a diet that is predominantly vegan or vegetarian. I recently had a 2 day escape to the coast from the Portland area,and as I was going to be in Newport, researched vegan/vegetarian friendly restaurants in the area and ULTRALIFE popped up so after a visit to the Yaquina lighthouse, headed over there for lunch as they seemed to be one of the rare restaurants/cafes on the coast that availed appealing options. I had their fork over knives burrito. There is no table service. They just called my number when the food was ready. There wasn't too long of a wait, and it was delicious! The other surprise is that I had never heard of NYE beach and this area with its collection of quaint stores and restaurants around it ala Cannon Beach. OK the area doesn't have a Haystack, but you have noteworthy places to visit nearby like the Yaquina Lighthouse and Ocean Coast Aquarium! For me, also somewhat of a plus not to be completely overrun by tourists. And I feel the stores and restaurants were just as ..if not more appealing. I was so taken by ULTRALIFE that I came back for their vegan breakfast sandwich the next day. YUM once again. When I am in Newport again, definitely coming back there! ULTRALIFE and its neighboring establishments besides NYE Beach deserve your support!

Really cute with a good variety of food options. It's popular and crowded but I think that's a good thing. Grab and go pastries or wait for a breakfast burrito (decent!) the shop adjoined is also well curated- think a bit of tourist but higher quality? In general just good vibes all around, a really solid place to keep on your list to stop at while skipping disappointing chain options.

Lots of options for bagles and tosted savory handpies " Beach Buns" plus coffee, espresso, smoothies and cocktails, beer and wine! Really cute, convenient and friendly place. I always come here for breakfast when in Newport because its easy and really great! Order at the counter and sit where you like; outside tables too.
