Jon is an exceptional teacher, offering fun and engaging lessons that cater for people of all ages, sizes and abilities. Two months back I walked in as a beginner knowing no one and with little to no martial arts experience, but the welcome and guidance I got from Jon and other members instantly made it feel like I'd been there for years. For anyone looking to make friends, learn a new skill, get fit and become part of a dynamic and closely nit community, I would highly recommend MG Jiu Jitsu in Guildford!

I recently moved to Guildford BJJ and there’s nothing I can say but positive recommendations- Jon and the team provide a fantastic level of modern coaching and support for all levels making every session not only beneficial but extremely fun. The team and community is second to none and If anyone in the area is interested or looking for a place to train I can’t recommend it enough.

What a bunch of ABSOLUTE legends! I passed through with work and decided to drop in for a session and a little sparring. From my first message on whatsapp, till the last round of sparring I was treated like family. Can't wait until I'm back in town - will drop by for sure! Warmly recommended! OSU!

My son absolutely loves training here and has been doing so for the last 3 years. The gym is clean and spacious, but more importantly it's friendly and welcoming all round (instructors and students). Jon's nature puts the kids at ease and they feel right at home after their first class – even those who are more introverted. Jon's passion for BJJ shows and his instruction is truly first class. If you're looking to introduce your kid to the sport of BJJ, this is without question the club for you!

I dropped in for a trial and the coaches were fantastic and the members were great to roll with. I love the idea of making the classes live and realistic to competition style. Super easy to sign up with showers and clean gym.

Amazing gym with an incredible coach. It’s been nearly a year since I started training, and I already feel like part of the team. The gym has a great atmosphere, and everyone is super friendly and welcoming. Jon’s coaching is straightforward, practical, and most importantly, fun. It really is "REAL TRAINING FOR THOSE WILLING TOREALLY TRAIN"

We train at Guildford Jiu Jitsu as a family and the gym is clean, well equipped & friendly. Jon is a great coach with both adults + children, the women’s team is thriving and the club as a whole has a great community feel! We love GBJJ

Fantastic club and coaches! I started in January, and 10 months in, I’m loving it. The atmosphere is really friendly and welcoming. There’s a broad range of ages, sizes and experience, meaning you get plenty of variety in your rolls, and as a shift worker, having lessons every day, throughout the day, makes a huge difference, as I cannot commit to fixed days and times.I love the “gamified” approach, focusing on fundamentals and principles against resisting partners, rather than endless drilling of techniques, and you leave every session feeling you’ve learned something new - sometimes because you did something right, frequently in my case, because you got something wrong! 🤣But it becomes addictive - even at 50 🫣, I can’t recommend it enough.

I’ve trained here for a year now, great place, great atmosphere and great coaches. No time is wasted from the start of each session to the end. An amazing schedule fit for everyone. Always made to feel welcome. So for those who ever feel anxious like myself, there’s nothing to worry about!

Jon was super super cool and a good coach. Appreciate that they have a dedicated women’s team

2025-04-06T08:53:29.386Z

I moved to this gym from another local gym, because I saw they had a really big women's team. However, the progress I've seen in my skills since has been astronomical. I love Jon's teaching methods, you really get to put into practice what you've learned, in a way that is really good for neurodivergent folks like myself. The whole gym has been really welcoming, but the women's team itself is amazing, and I'm always learning something from these women when we roll.

Having moved from a different club, I have to say this has been an eye opener as to how fun, inspiring and engaging training can be! Having only been a part of this team for a short while, everyone has been very welcoming. The women’s team is very uplifting and heartfelt. It’s a privilege to train with likeminded people who all have a keen interest to grapple. It has bought back the love for jiu jitsu again for me and the coaching has been incredible from both the mixed classes and the women’s team! Big thank you to the team for gracefully accepting me on board!

I’ve had an amazing experience training at this gym! The coaches are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and passionate about what they do. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the team spirit is second to none. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced practitioner, you’ll find a great community here that pushes you to improve while having fun. Highly recommend to anyone looking to train, develop their skills, and be part of a fantastic team!
