Lovely quiet place between Gympie and Tin Can Bay. Highly recommend
Not much information about National Service Veterans! Most of information about the Navy.
Excellent and relaxing
Nice and peaceful, and great clean amenities. Only problem wasn't enough toilets and showers. Not that anybody complained
Clean, tidy, space, friendly. Veteran hideaway.

A memorial lake with cenotaph and sloping garden beds inlaid with name plaques of those lost plus a wooden carved horse's head to commemorate the war horses. At night lights in the shape of a helicopter can be seen as if flying plus a full sized wooden horse lights up from inside. The huge camp kitchen filled with memorabilia also lights up beautifully behind a massive campfire with timber tables and seats. If you want peace and quiet with nothing to do and a good company, or a casual stroll thru the pine forest, than this is the place
Great place to stay very quite and the owners are very friendly indeed.
Not a place for children. They don't seem to like children. They are always watching everything they do.
Nice, quaint caravan park amidst coniferous forest!

There is a super big kitchen with plenty of space for everyone, and due to the amount of veterans who stay here, there is alway fantastic stories to listen to. We've never stayed anywhere that has such a fantastic sense of community who go out of there way to help each other - also the birds get fed so there's always beautiful birds tweeting around, kangaroos hop am and pm and last night 3 dinghies were spotted drinking from the dam. Would 10000% recommend this place, its cheap and right on the way to rainbow beach! Thanks so much, we will miss you all! Less

Had stayed there for 3 weeks previously. Pam, had been very kind to us, a group of 4 backpackers, and we had all grown quite fond of the place once we decided to move on, after our pockets dryed out along with most if the local farmwork. We then moved from free campsite to rest stop and so on, until the rains began and work came through. We arrived with our last 30 dollars hoping to convince Pam to let us stay on loan till our first paycheck arrived in 5 days, only to find the office closed. So as we knew the office was also the home of a young boy, we held off ringing the bell assuming we would see them about as we always had. After chatting to two of the locals about the enormous amount of rain that night and our current predicament, one of the locals suggested we just sleep under the clubhouse roof and left us, so we showered off and set about preparing to eat, as it was getting late and we had work at 3:30am the next day. That was when Pam's daughters husband appeared, bottle in hand, to inform us Pam had left for a well earned holiday leaving him and his wife in charge. He was very angry about us showering before we payed, so my friend left too go to the front office and pay. He then sees that I have started to open up a pizza to cook and blows a screw. Starts ranting about disrespect and how its a insult and shouts me down anytime I calmly argue against him. He then decides we will a pay a full nights price and leave after we've eaten and storms off. I decided to run after my friend and warn him but got there as he walked into the office. The daughter was waiting there, quite obviously already upset and my friend begins to pay and apologize for the delay. Then husband walks in, still drinking, barking about insults and the kitchen and calling us thieves. It seemed to me like they had been already going through a domestic fight themselves and where using the opportunity to team up and blow off some steam as the stuff they said was pretty nasty. We decided to just pack up and leave as we didn't want to really stay any longer, and as we are packing up the husband comes back over, Still drinking, puts his arm round my shoulder and trys to get all buddy buddy with me. He was obviously quite drunk and was surprised when I brushed him off and told him to let us just pack up and leave us alone. All in all the campsite is friendly and pleasant if you are quite. But if you haven't served in a army, or are a backpacker, stay somewhere else. Less
