The Nines Golf Course

In response to Jimmy, Joe, J, and his garbage One Star reviews..Josh & Lillian (the new owners) come from the family that built Salem Golf Club into the outstanding golf experience that it is. They know what it takes to build and maintain a beautiful course. They have the fire, desire, and the guts to risk what they've built in their young lives, while also trying to raise a family, in order to resurrect this course from the dead.Because of that, they have my total respect and admiration.Unfortunately, the previous lessees and short term owner did not have the right passion, nor the willingness to invest in the heart and soul of the property, which is the turf. They let what once was a beautiful course, basically go to hell.I've been in the golf business for over 35 years. I was a Golf Pro, and an Agronomist. I know when someone takes pride in their course, and when they are giving the ground the love it needs. It was extremely troubling to see how the course had been so neglected over the past several years. I've seen hundreds of courses shut down. I was afraid that would be the fate here.Thank God for the Kays. As soon as they took over, and I met with Josh, I knew the fate of The Old Bayou was in good hands. I've seen an incredible turn around of the course and buildings."Jimmy" has no clue of the commitment and investment that it takes to totally rebuild the greens. Anyone who has played there this year, can see the direction of the course, and they're being reasonably patient about it."Jimmy," your statement about the layout is just absurd. There is nothing "monotonous" about that design. I've played or worked pro tour events on over 600 golf courses in my lifetime.I've played and worked tournaments in Japan, Scotland, Cabo, Hawaii, Eastern & Western Canada, and all over the US. I've been inside the ropes with some of the best players in the world.I also worked on greens crews at Oswego Lake, and Tualatin. I still work in the golf business today, and I know a little bit about the game, about turf management, and about golf course design. The Nines is not "monotonous" at all. It's a great layout, and a lot of fun to play. It has a ton of character, charm, rolling terrain, and natural beauty.I also know an intentional hatchet job when I see it. I don't know what your mission is here "Jimmy," but I think you need to go find yourself a girl. The Nines is a beautiful place, with tons of potential. The Kays, and their hard working staff, are the perfect people for the job.You can't imagine how much they've already spent on new pumps, new irrigation, new equipment, fertilizer, sand, and on remodeling the mansion, not to mention the labor. As for the range, and amenities are concerned? Again, the range was neglected just like the course. "Jimmy," do you have any idea of the cost of liability insurance to cover a driving range, let alone new poles, and new netting? This is a long process; one that isn't fixable in just 9 months. The previous owner not only neglected the course, he also stopped paying the employees. That place was a mess. The Kays are doing an amazing job of turning it around.I don't know why "Jimmy," feels justified in being so critical of some really good people, and a great reclamation project in progress, but dude, you are just flat wrong..about everything. The new owners have done miracles this year. "Jimmy" have you ever built, or had to come in and rebuild something that someone else neglected so badly like this at any time in your life? Or do you just get off on criticizing others?I normally wouldn't go off on someone to this degree, but when you put something out on google or social media with the intent to damage good people, and your opinions are born from pure ignorance, then you pretty much deserve it.God Bless the Kay Family (Josh, Lillian, and the kids), and all the hard working staff at The Nines. I for one am truly excited, and greatly respectful for what they all are doing, and I'm also more than patient enough to wait for results.Peace n Blessings..
